Each week we collect canned food and other perishable food items for the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry. Monetary donations for the food pantry are also accepted and can be sent to the parish office. This food pantry, which is the largest of its kind in the tri-state area is located at 819 N. Lafayette Avenue in Evansville. Throughout the year, the children in our school and religious education programs also collected food items for the food pantry.
In addition to making donations of food items, parishioners can also volunteer their time to work at the Food Pantry. The work includes collecting food items from throughout the city, sticking shelves and preparing food orders.
The St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry also serves as the clearing house for those people from throughout the city who make requests for help with utility bills, medicine, rent and other needs. The area around Evansville is divided into eighteen different areas with each area being served by one of the eighteen parishes in the Evansville area. Volunteers help process requests that come to the St. Vincent DePaul Coordinator's Office.
Parishioners are invited to make contributions to the PARISH NEEDY FUND, which is set up to respond to the different requests we receive from the St. Vincent DePaul Coordinator's Office. Contributions can be made to our parish office. Contributions can also be made to the St. Theresa Fund for the Poor Endowment which has been set up to serve the needs of poor in our parish. For more information about this endowment, contact the parish office (812) 963-3273 or email gschroeder@evdio.org
Parishioners are also invited to help out at the local homeless shelters in the Evansville area. All of these shelters invite people to volunteer their time and/or make donations of food and household items as well as monetary donations. Click on any of the following to learn more
